How many points do South Africans need to get an Australian work visa
To be invited to apply for an Australian work visa, you must meet a specific set of conditions. Known as the Australian Qualified Points Test, you need a minimum of 65 points, notes a specialist immigration company Sable International.
“In short, some Australian visas require a points test to ensure that skilled migrants entering the country will make a significant contribution to the country’s economy,” said Sam Hopwood, director of Sable International.
“The point test examines factors such as the candidate’s age, work experience, knowledge of English and, if available, his partner’s credentials. To pass the Australian Immigration Points Test, you must achieve a score of 65 or higher. Different sections of the test weigh more on the total.
Currently, there are two other major requirements for moving to Australia as a work visa holder. Your career should appear on the List of qualified professions in priority migration and you need employer sponsorship. The other options are the Global Talent visa and Visas for the Business Innovation and Investment Program.
“You can always express your interest in a work visa which will ensure that your invitation to apply arrives sooner, if you get one, once visa processing in Australia reopens,” said Sam Hopwood.
“These requirements give you points for reaching a minimum threshold. This is called the Australian Qualified Points Test and you need a minimum of 65 points.
